Do you suffer from afternoon sugar cravings? These cravings can deter your pursuit toward better health and a better body. There are some simple steps you can take to combat these cravings. Here are three.
1) Start your day with protein. Often times we eat traditional breakfast foods such as cereal, bagels, toast, oatmeal, etc. The problem is that even if these are whole grain, we experience a sugar rush. A sugar rush always results in a sugar crash that leaves you hungry, sluggish and craving more sugar. By adding protein (eggs, meat, beans) to your breakfast, you start your day with an even blood sugar.
2) Exercise helps regulate all your body’s hormones and jump-starts your energy levels. Many people also say that exercise helps them make better food choices because they don’t want to “undo” their hard work. Exercise is essential in the process of decreasing sugar cravings.
3) Remember that our taste buds regenerate every 10 days. After 10 days of abstaining from sweets, other foods, like fruits and veggies, will start to taste sweeter.
