Be honest…do you think you drink enough water? We hear about the importance of consuming water all the time for proper hydration. But do we really know why? It’s quite simple…water is the life source for all bodily functions – not just physical, but autonomic and cognitive as well!
If your body is dehydrated, it has to work harder to circulate blood through your system. Not only is it harder for your body to receive nutrients from the food you eat, but oxygen is not being efficiently absorbed into your blood stream. As a result, your brain becomes less active and you can feel fatigued and run down. This makes it harder to have a good workout, be in a good mood, and burn more calories. This is why your trainer is regularly reminding you to drink water during your workout!
We understand that drinking enough water can be difficult, especially when you are first creating the habit. This is a common complaint from many clients. Here is a pro-tip for you: drink 12 ounces right when you wake up in the morning! Not only does it activate your internal organs and instantly boost metabolism, but it is proven to create FOCUS for the day. Getting that good amount of water early in your day makes the water consumption a little less daunting. And it can prevent those late night, bladder-hurting, sleep-disrupting effects that many people dread.
So, DRINK UP folks! Start your day off right. Allow bodily function, burn those calories, make your workouts valuable, and create a healthy environment for your body to thrive! It will thank you later.
