In our last blog, we talked a bit about smoothie nutrition. With so many ingredients, it can be overwhelming to take all the things out and put them away every time you want a smoothie. It is also tricky to eat the correct ingredients at the right time so nothing gets wasted.
The solution: meal prep your smoothies.
If you fully pre-make your smoothies, they go bad pretty quickly. Even if you blend and then freeze them, the texture will be off. The best way to meal prep smoothies to extend the life and nutrition content of the ingredients is pre-blended and stored in the freezer in freezer-safe mason jars.
Line the jars up on your counter and fill them all at once. Preping five at a time will give you a nice surplus for quick blending at a future time. First, add the cauliflower rice, then the fruit. Finish with the flax seed, peanut butter and pumpkin puree. Add a lid and it’s ready for the freezer! To make it even easier, use frozen cauliflower rice and fruit. There is no chopping and no worries about produce spoiling before it is used. Move one jar from the freezer to the fridge the night before so the ingredients thaw and come out of the jar easily. Add the almond milk and spinach at the time of blending. Enjoy!
