We hear it all the time, the importance of consuming water. But do we really know why? With the influx of social media and readily available influencers the concept can get lost in translation. If nothing else, just remember this…. water is the life source for all bodily functions.
If your body is dehydrated, it has to work harder to circulate blood through your system. Not only is it harder for your body to receive nutrients from the food you eat, but oxygen is not being efficiently absorbed into your blood stream. As a result, your brain becomes less active and you can feel fatigued and run down. This makes it harder to get a good workout, be in a good mood, and burn more calories. This is why your trainer is probably always asking you to drink water regularly during your workout!! Makes a little more sense now doesn’t it?
“Ugh, but drinking a lot of water can be so difficult!” Yes, your’re right…especially at first while creating a habit. I hear this all the time from clients. So here is my pro-tip for you – drink 12 ounces right when you wake up in the morning! Not only does it activate your internal organs and instantly boost metabolism but it is proven to create FOCUS for the day. Personally, I always start my day with intention and goal reflection while chugging my morning water. Getting that good amount of water early in your day makes the water consumption a little less daunting. And it definitely prevents those late night, bladder-hurting, sleep-disrupting effects that many people dread.
So DRINK UP folks!! Start your day off right. Allow bodily function, burn those calories, make your workouts valuable, and create a healthy environment for your body to work at it’s best. It will thank you later.
