Our clients come to us for help with a variety of health and wellness needs. Some of these needs include overall fitness, weight loss, stress management, and reprieve from pain. ZenRock’s trainers are skilled and knowledgable at assisting cilents in all these areas. However, there is a hidden benefit that is also extremely important…bone health!
Bone mass (or density) typcially peaks at age 30 and then starts to decline as we continue age.* Beginning at the age of 40, most people begin losing approximately 1% of their bone density per year.** Bone fractures are painful and limiting. Poor bone health can make them more likely. The great news is weight bearing and strength exercises help maintain and may even increase bone density!
When you lift weights or do body weight exercises, you are forcing your muscles to work against resistance. This causes the tendons and muscles to pull on the bone, causing the bone to create more bone tissue. Denser bones are stronger and harder to break or fracture. Additionally, weight lifting or body weight exercises can increase balance and stability. This reduces your risk of falling in the first place. At ZenRock Fitness, given our focus on a holistic approach to wellness, taking bone health into account is an intentional consideration for the workouts we create and lead our clients through.
Please reach out to us if an emphasis on bone health is important to your fitness regime. We are happy to discuss more about how we can help you and the exercises we would incorporate into your personal training sessions. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us to schedule a complimentary fitness evaluation and training session as a new client at either our Bellevue or Redmond studio locations.
