ZenRock Fitness is full of busy clients. On any given day, the studio is full of moms and dads, bosses and employees, volunteers and humanitarians. There is a myriad of hobbies, interests and recreational activities represented. A couple of things we find our clients all have in common are full schedules and the stress that goes along with it. The thing is we, the ZenRock Trainers, get it. We all have families and friends, a second job or volunteer role, homes to care for, kids and/or pets and things we love to do in our “free time.” How do we stay so sane, fit, energetic, healthy and balanced (although about three of those are debatable)?! Here are some tips from the ZenRock Team:
**Find love in what you do. We all love training. We also love being active and playing with our kids. We love hanging out with friends and families. Find something you love and do it.
**Stay active. Often we have clients who cancel their appointments because they just don’t have the time to workout this week. Exercise helps reduce stress and gives you energy to tackle the rest of the day’s events.
**Hot yoga!
**Cook for others.
**Eat well. Food affects us more than we realize! Its hard to love anything when you feel yucky. Fill your body with delicious but real, nutritious foods.
**Do sprints until your stress melts. Find what you love – run, bike, elliptical and do it until you feel better.
**Take moments “away.” Sometimes “away” is simply a few minutes on the couch, in the break room or in a coffee shop but allowing your brain to disconnect and focus on nothing will feel like a mini-vacation and rejuvenate you for the next moments.
**Find a day when you can be completely selfish. On that day, do only what you like to do. Everything goes!
**Take a 15 minute power nap.
**Use your drive (commute) as quiet time. Try not to listen to the radio or make phone calls. **Take a shower as soon as you get home. Take about 15 minutes to decompress and separate your day from your evening.
We also get that everyone’s circumstance is different. Please know that we all are experts in helping clients figure out exactly what will help them the most. Pick your trainer’s brain a bit. Maybe you’ll find the perfect balance for you where you are right now.
