Luxury Accommodation…
We will spend our week in comfort. Plush, king-sized beds in lovely rooms – some with pools views, some with courtyard views. Boutique Hotel Kasbek is located in the Lapad area of Dubrovnik across the street from the marina. With only 13 rooms it feels more like a villa than a hotel and the staff will make you feel right at home. It is a beautiful, walkable location with shops, restaurants and only a ten-minute drive to the Old City.
For over 440 years this stone palace has stood proudly on the coastline of Dubrovnik. Its history is as complicated and as fascinating as the city it is located in. The Hotel Kazbek is the perfect base for exploring the city and the region. Upon entrance through the grand archway you are transported back in time to an era of 16th century elegance and exquisite design. It is easy to imagine Kazbek when it was a summer residence of a famous Dubrovnik aristocratic family. The palace is now a protected cultural monument and has been recently renovated with care and respect for its dignified history.
The Culinary Experience…
Croatian cuisine, especially in the Dubrovnik area, is influenced by Italian flavors and styles, but with its own unique herb and spice profile. It is fresh, local and Mediterranean — think seafood, risotto, pastas, homemade breads and an abundance of fruits and vegetables. They also make incredible wines and brandy.
Each morning after yoga we will eat healthy, hearty breakfasts prepared by our chefs to fuel our adventures.
Lunches will be enjoyed out on excursions most days. This may be in neighboring Montenegro, at an oceanfront cafe, on an island or deep within the walls of the old city.
Dinners will be prepared by our chefs in the hotel some evenings and out at local restaurants. Expect to indulge and be pampered after each day’s activity! The dinner table is our favorite place to connect and share stories.
All dietary restrictions and special requests will be accommodated. Please let us know if you are vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free, or have any other allergies we should be aware of.
The Excursions…
Old City of Dubrovnik Tour
We will walk the streets of the Old City with a guide to give us historical perspective as well as learn about the impact of the modern film industry. We will get to see incredible architecture, art, archeology and vibrant local culture.
This excursion will include a City Pass which allows access to most museums, two fortresses, the city wall, several galleries and public transportation. It also offers discounts for other local attractions outside of the old city.
Island of Korcula & Town of Ston
We will be driven to the Peljesac peninsula to visit the town of Ston where sea salt has been harvested since Roman times. It is also home to a magnificent great wall that must be climbed!
From the peninsula we will ferry to the magical island of Korcula for a fun and unexpected history lesson leaving time to wander its lovely streets and galleries.
On our way back to Dubrovnik we will stop at the Trsteno Arboretum which is home to a 500 year old Sycamore tree.
Cooking Class – Farm to Table
After a slow and easy morning, we will venture into the countryside for a cooking class at a traditional family farm.
Using produce and products from the farm or locally sourced, we will learn to make rustic breads, typical Croatian dinner courses and sweet treats. We will also sample local spirits and wines as we share time in the kitchen.
Montenegro – Bay of Kotor
Only one and half hours south of Dubrovnik we will find ourselves in the spectacular country of Montenegro. The black mountains seem to rise up out of the Bay of Kotor.
We will take a short boat ride to Our Lady of the Rocks – a small island nestled in the bay. We will also climb the walls of Kotor to get sweeping views of the mountains and the bay.
We will finish our day here with a delicious meal in an enchanted garden and then head back to Dubrovnik with our drivers.
Private Boat To Lopud Island
On the water or in the water are two of the best options in the this part of the world. Our skipper will take us from the Old Port of Dubrovnik on a panoramic tour of the city and nearby islands.
Our main destination will be Lopud Island where we will have time to walk the small seaside town before having a multi-course seafood lunch and local wine pairing.
There will be options to swim in the Adriatic sea and a few other sites to see on the boat ride back to the city.
